WebSphere may be a set of Java-based tools from IBM that permits customers to make and manage sophisticated business. WebSphere refers to a brand of proprietary computer software products within the genre of enterprise software referred to as "application and integration middleware". These software products are employed by end-users to make and integrate applications with other applications. IBM WebSphere has been available to the overall market since 1998. WebSphere is both a technology and a brand of software, created by IBM, as a set of business applications.

WebSphere is supposed to make business solutions through a group of Java-based tools enabling developers to make and manage business applications through a website's front end. WebSphere solutions are meant for high-volume, e-commerce transactions.
